Stripped, a project exploring how the world views me as a 210-pound, size-16 woman.
I took probably 30 or 40 photographs of myself, naked, covering the bits but showing all the flab and rolls. (I didn’t do this out of some kind of body shame or anything like that - I just wanted people to focus on the shape of my body rather than going “OH DEAR LAWD GENITALS.”)
Traced them in Photoshop, which was, let me tell you, quite an experience. Many times I went “Jesus, am I really shaped like that?! Am i THAT LUMPY!?” Shaded them, again highlighting the fat, the flab, the rolls. The first eight pictures are intentionally unflattering. This is what people seem to see. This is what gets me weird looks.
The text over each image is a word or term that I’ve been called. The last one is the term my own mother uses for overweight people.
…And then in the last picture I kinda lost it and made myself a unicorn, but hey, it was fun.
Materials/Time: MacBook Pro webcam for the original photographs; Photoshop CS3 (I am SO outdated); Wacom Bamboo tablet. Probably 15-20 hours over 2 days.
THIS! This is absolutely, it leaves me speechless. Yes! It is beautiful and amazing and absolutely wonderful. We are ALL HUMAN! No matter the size. I love it. You are absolutely amazingly talented, brilliant, and a;dslkhfa;sdhfk!! I just want to create amazingly artistic babies with you right now. <3
I need to prove something to my dad.
I think that there is nothing more beautiful than the human form naked. It represents purity in it’s rarest form. Innocence. Every line, shadow, and curve that makes up that person can be transferred to paper, canvas, etc and create something so beautiful it will literally take away someone’s breath. That my friends, is art.
Beautifully put. Might I have permission to show this to my dad? He needs convincing.
Of course you may! I hope he’s able to see it also! It truly is awe-inspiring. <3

If I were beautiful, I’d let you love me harder.
